I'm installing an operating system to my hard drive. Microsoft decided to be a prick and wont take my key (which is legal!! I paid 99 bucks for the stupid OS 2 years ago and it wont take the thing!) So I deleted everything, My hard drive is unpartitioned.

I Run fDisk, Set it all up, go to write and it says "read only. You do not have permission to write to this drive" WTF!? Its unpartitioned space! Ofcourse I have permission to write to it!

Am I doing anythign wrong?

Incase your wondering what version, it comes with the slackware distro.

I got it up, went to fdisk

w (<Insert Quote from above> It wont let me write to my own disk)

Im like "fuck!" I reboot, go through first processes, type in cfdisk at the command prompt, You do not have permission to write.

Can ANYONE Help me? Maybe the hard drive is supposed to be set up different jumper wise or ribbon wise for linux? Dont think so.. I dont know

Please reply as soon as possible! Rep will be given to all that assist lol

hmm....I would put the drive in another computer and format it that way, then try to install linux on it. Something must have gone wrong.

Uumm...wierd. Ye try Tommy Boy' idea and then check jumpers on HDD.

Check Jumpers first atcuali

Well Thats a great idea.. But I dont know anyone who would trust anyone to stick something in their computer
