Default Upgrading Pc: Need help!

First of all I'm new to PC's and sorry in advanced if I confuse you

Hi there, I'm looking to upgrade my pc, it's quite a old peice of kit, got it from a car boot for 80.00 about 3 years ago, served me well but looking to upgrade it. Recently brought a HD 3650 graphic card but doesn't really give me the graphics I desire and I am now looking to go into the 4650 4850 series of ATI radeon, or even go to the 5000 or switch to Nivida. My PC isn't PCI it's AGP slots. These are my Specs atm.

System: (Copied as I see it)

Microsoft Windows XP
Version 2002
Service Pack 2

Pentium[R] 4 CPU 2.80Ghz
2.80 GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM
Pysical Address Extension

(And the Hd 3650 GFX card)

I'm actually wanting to play Battlefield 2 Bad company 2,
Modern Warfare 2, Arma, But I know my computer just wouldn't be able to handle that.

Could you list me some items which :

1. Would fit my PC, (I find it hard to find AGP)
2. Mostly looking for a prosessor right now, duo core maybe.
3. Would give me a good peromance and graphics.

I'm visitng a computer fair tomorow to find some bits and peices,
my idea is to perhaps scap this pc, (give it to my gf's mum for 50.00)
And buy a new computer from there (should only cost me 50-70)
and just find one which as PCI-e slots and got a good prosessor already,
buy the GFX card/extra memory/ram. What you think?
