Upgrading my Graphics Card

I currently own a TravelMate 290, and I'm pretty sure it has an onboard graphics card, but I don't know how to make sure. Anyway, I really want to upgrade the graphics card but apparently its nearly impossible to do so with an onboard graphics card. But a few days ago I was looking at a few sites that said if you upgrade the general RAM of the system the graphics card capabilites will also increase, is this true or just a long shot? thanks for any help.

You can't easily upgrade graphics cards in notebooks. If you get more RAM, you can share more of it with the integrated graphics, so Yeah, performance would increase, marginally.

Ok sweet, so if I was to add say an extra 256 (I have 512 currently), how would I actually transfer it from system RAM to Graphics Card Memory? Thanks again.

it wont change much, my aunt has an onboard gpu and she has 2GB of ram and it still sucks.....onboards are hard to upgrade so you might have to deal with it....sorry
