Upgrading my graphics card

Hey, I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card and I was wondering if a 256MB card would be good enough to handle some of the newer games. Here are my system specs right now (tell me if other upgrades would be good)

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2Ghz processor
Windows XP Media Center Edition
Standard sound card
1 GB SDRAM
200GB Hard drive

and this is my current graphics card:

ATI Radeon Xpress 200 series (256MB SHARED memory)

do you want ATI or NVIDIA. and the v-ram isnt the only thing that matters

and also... do u have pci express or AGP

I want an ATI card and I believe I have a PCI express considering thats what the crappy Xpress card uses (i think)

How do i find out for sure though?

That's onboard video. I'm pretty sure I just found out that it has PCI-Express. You might want to make sure, but I'm like 99% sure it does.
