If your buying those new parts, take a look at:

Intel Core2Duo E6300 - $180
Gigabyte DS3 - $145
Crucial Ballistix 512MB PC2-5300 - $79
Biostar 7600GT 256MB - $120 (with rebate)
Antec SP-450 450W - $65

Thats $589 with tax Only thing I would recommend to improve that is consider some memory - I know some better Crucial stuff but the name is ridiculously long and I can't find it, so I'll look again tomorrow and post it up or PM it to you if you PM me - and I would suggest an Akasa PaxPower 460W PSU which may be slightly more expensive but is extremely reliable

Anything else post or PM me

Thanks for the suggestions, do you know of a cheap 1gb (2x512 or 1x1gb) that is reliable, doesn't necessarily have to be great for overclocking because I've never O/Ced in my life (except last night when i decided to O/C my 9800 pro, 338 to 340 core :-p). And I've already chosen my video card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150182
XFX GeForce 7600GT its the fastest 7600gt, and also pretty cheap at ~140 (after rebate/shipping cost). Core= 590mhz Memory= 1600mhz.
Also, what's wrong with a Rosewill powersupply there are so many good reviews for Rosewill PSUs on newegg. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817182017

Anyone want to comment on my choices and/or offer a good stick(s) of ram?

hehe, rosewill? You are much better of with an Antec. Rosewills are just crap. And good sticks of RAM would be any value RAM from patriot, Corsair, OCZ, G.Skill.

There is nothing wrong with Rosewill, i have used this powersupply in over 10 computers i built , for customers and friends.

I also use a Rosewill powersupply myself and i have had 0 problems with it, its quality is great, its quiet, and does what it is supposed to do.

thats my first hand experience with that product, dont pay heed to these naysayers

So....what is so good about Rosewill? Do you have an oscilliscope to test ripple? How much do the rails flucuate under load? Does it work well in heat? Those performance tests show that other power supplies are proven better than the cheapo ones. Powersupplies prove the saying "you get what you pay for" Why do you think the Win-Tact built PC P&C, Zippy, or Etasis built Silverstones cost so much? The Win-Tact have a regulation of 1% and are tested in an environment to 50*C.

Lightbulb Re: Upgrading my computer!

But, I'm a mostly average user, I don't need to spend hundreds on super PSUs. Especially considering the psu that came with my $50 case works just fine. (350w too!) My case isn't half bad either.
And it seems that most (if not all, i didn't check all) of the Rosewill PSUs have been getting amazing reviews 5/5 eggs on newegg and not from only a fwe customers but 50+ customers.
I'm pretty sure I'm goign to stick with the Rosewill. I hope it'll last me at least 3 years until I move out.
