upgrading gpu

I am looking to upgrade my graphics card. The card that I have now is a 7600 GT. I would like something a little newer maybe something in the 9800 series. Any recommendations for something around $100.00 that will improve my flight simulator. I am a little confused about some changes since I built my computer.

1. The current card that I have is DDR3 standard. My motherboard memory is DDR2 standard. Does this make any difference? The new cards seem to be DDR3 also.

2. The interface for my current card is pci x16. The newer cards are 2.0 and 2.1. Are these newer cards compatible with my motherboard sockets?

PC ram doesnt affect dedicated GPU ram

Thanks for the help. So it looks like the 2.0 would work for me. What about the 2.1 interface? Also this card only has one dvi output. I occasionally run 2 monitors at one time. Could I do better with maybe a 1gb card as opposed to 512 or is that too much overkill for my system?
