Default Upgrading CPU

I have an old AMD Sempron processor 3200+ and i bought this computer as a whole package about 1-2 years ago, i was wondering if i could buy a better AMD processor like an Phenom and replace my Sempron processor. What i want to know is if it would work on this computer, i do not know what kind of motherboard i have but i know it supports AMD processors and i have a PCI express graphics card. If anyone could give me any extra information about finding how to find what kind of motherboard i have would be useful aswell.

Download PC Wizrd and tell us what it says about your motherboard.

There's no way to tell what you can put in there before knowing what motherboard you have and it's specifications.

That is a socket 939 motherboard. It will not support the new Phenom processors as they are socket AM2+. The fastest CPU still available at Newegg that will work on your motherboard is the AMD Athlon 64 4000+ San Diego 2.4GHz.

An AM2/AM2+ board is really not going to cost you as much as you think. Look: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138106
This board could handle any of the 95W Phenoms.
