Default Upgrading Affect Warranty???

We've got a dell dimension 2400 which we got in january this year...we had a 3 year warranty put on it....but it was practically out of date already....could do with a new graphic card and some xtra RAM. I thought it wud do...but of course the kids want the best graphic cards available...as do I..but the RAM just aint enough to cope with all the programs runnin while runnin xp. If i tried to get the computer upgraded however would the warranty no longer apply???
