upgrades for an old laptop

I just recieved a compaq presario 2500 for free. Are there any worthwhile hardware upgrades that are really cheap?

i googled it, it only supports 1gig ram max, i looks like a pentium 4 2.0GHz and up for the cpu and a cdrw-dvd combo drive, 15"screen, looks like alot of them come with a 40gig hdd...

40 gb hard drive
256 mb ram
intel mobile pentium 4 - 2.4 GHz

I would put more RAM, but that is about it. A larger HDD maybe, but I would not spend over $100 on that laptop.
