Default upgradeing question

hey guys i wantt o get a newer cpu how do i kno what kind my motherboard will support im looking at a dual core 2 if my mother board is a few years old will it work with the new cpu thnx i want to get this tomarrow any quick help would help me out alot thnx in advance

Download CPU-Z: http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php
And take a screenshot of the "mainboard tab". We will then be able to tell you what your board supports.
