So as some of you might know, I'll be getting an HDTV and PS3 soon, that will take a huge chunk of my money.
So now I don't know if I should either leave my current computer alone, or make a couple of changes. I was thinking of getting another 2GB of ram, and a new graphics card, and a PSU if I needed. My CPU is already clocked at 3GHz with the OC, and I was told that most games don't go beyond that.
I will be using my computer to mainly play games, and multitask simple things (Word, Firefox, Zune, etc), and will mostly game in 1680x1050, and sometimes switch to 1920x1080 hooking it up to the TV.

Should I just get 2GB of RAM, and a new graphics card and try to hold on to it till the end of this year to early next year? Or should I just leave my PC alone?

EDIT - Oh, I'm using W7 Professional BTW.

Get a new video card and more RAM. You should consider a new CPU cooler to get a better OC too. I really don't see a huge need for overhaul.

8800 SLI would prolly be plenty.
you can find one on ebay for ~$75 now.

I already do have a CPU cooler, I have an OCZ Vendetta 2. I just haven't set it up because I'm afraid the push pins won't hold it in place well.

I don't really want to SLI, doesn't seem worth it as not all games support it. I was thinking of getting an midrange 5000 series since the GTX series seem a bit out of my price range.

Oh OK then.

I've never heard of any issues with the mounting system.

As far as the video card, like 5770 or 5850?

SLI usually only works in games that need it. Ones that don't really wouldn't benefit anyways.

It's just a feeling that I think will end up causing more problems. I don't think I need to OC any higher since my computer never utilize 100% of it unless I'm doing something CPU intensive, which is about once every 2 months. Also, my CPU never went above 50c.

I was thinking of the 5770, the 5850 costs $300 last time I checked. The 5770 is only about half the cost of that.

I have a 5770. The drivers need time to mature, there are still a couple of kinks that need to be worked out.

Tell him to stop watching porn :p

Most of them went away with installing without the HDMI audio driver, but with my 5770 I can't enable multicore rendering in L4D and L4D2 without massive input lag. When pressing two keys at a time it's like trying to aim with a hair over your mouse sensor. It goes away with alt-tabbing a few times, but it's not worth it. MW2 plays just fine.

Problem number 2 is returning to a blurry desktop after gaming. Goes away after restart, but it seems like not having the HDMI audio driver helps. This usually didn't happen with L4D2, but with MW2.
