I just built my 3rd computer today and was expecting a huge difference in speed and I am not really happy with the results...
I went from: Athlon 64 3800+ to a Phenom x4 9550 Asus A8v Deluxe 939 pin Mobo to Asus M3N78 Pro AM2+ Mobo 1 gig ram to 4 gig PC6400 800 ram ATI 800 pro 128mb AGP8 video card to ATI HD 4650 1gb ddr2 PCI-2.0 video card I've flashed the bios, updated the video drivers, and updated windows and I'm just not getting a speed increase over my old setup. In some cases (like getting online) it's actually slower. I thought I was getting pretty knowledgable by my 3rd build but this has me totally stumped... am I missing something? do I have a bottleneck I'm not seeing? could this be a power issue? I'm only running a 420w ATX power supply. Help! |

Yeah, that's something you need to do. Windows installations are hardware specific, mainly being motherboards.

Big difference after formatting.
This is the first time I've re-used a HDD and didn't think it would make a difference but after starting from scratch everything is a ton quicker today. Thanks for the advice. |
