Default Upgrade

Hey, I have a slow PC for today's games. Socket 939 board, AMD 3800+ 2.4 Ghz, 1 gig of ram, and a POS asus 256mb card.
Here is my video card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121019

This is my ram
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145440

I know but I'm surprised but this machine runs Call of Duty 4 somewhat decent, but I get a bit of lag in some places. So I was wondering would upgrading to 1 more gig (total of 2 gigs) or getting a new graphics card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814500002)
what would get a bigger bang for my buck . All I have is about $50 to spend Thanks

Hm, with only $50, I think the only reasonable upgrade would be RAM. If you really want to get better graphics for gaming, etc, you'll have to dish out a little more.

EDIT: Just realized you've got a Nvidia 6 series graphics card. Hm...maybe a 7 series would be a worthy upgrade in your case if you find a good one off of newegg.com with a nice rebate. I don't see the RAM being MUCH of a problem since I used my sony with 1 gig of ram for gaming and it was perfect.

Wow, I had no idea those were that cheap.

IMO that looks like a pretty good upgrade for you. Will definitely boost up performance.

How much do you have to spend exactly? If it's very little, then a HD 3650 would be a good cheap upgrade: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814131088. However, you will only be able to use this card if you have a PCI-Ex16 slot. As you have a 939 board then I think you may just have an AGP slot.

PCI-E 2.0 doubles the bandwidth of PCI-E 1.1. But no applications need that bandwidth ATM and all PCI-E 2.0 cards are backwards compatible with PCI-E 1.1. I realised you only have $50 to spend. Which isn't really going to get you very far, but save up a bit more and you could get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814260075 The 8500GT isn't a very good card BTW.

Max $60 but I'm not looking for a gaming beast just to pull some of that lag out of Call of Duty. Also look at my card it's a Asus Geforce 6200

I have the same card in another PC I have. I know what it's like . How about this then: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102699 or this if you can save up $10 more: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102728. It's the new version of the 2400 XT.
