GHz? Technically, you need at least the following to run Home Premium:

1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor).

1 GB of system memory.

Support for DirectX 9 graphics with a WDDM driver, 128 MB of graphics memory (minimum), Pixel Shader 2.0 and 32 bits per pixel.

40 GB of hard drive capacity with 15 GB free space.

I think you'll do fine with the upgrade to Vista Premium. Now here's the test. Run this compatibility software before you do anything else to see if you can run it:

Before you begin,
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pro...a&mg_id=20409b

and "Download Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor"

But for RAM, anywhere from 2-4GB would be nice. I'm using 1GB and it can crawl when you're doing tons of things on your PC. I see the meter peak a lot. 2GB is ideal.
