An unusual problem with my DVD Rom Drive

First off, the drive works. I checked the hardware and it seems to be working. I insert a CD-R and it reads it fine. However, when I insert a DVD, doesn't matter what kind. A DVD-R or a movie DVD, the darn thing doesn't read it!

Why?

When you put the DVD in, does it constantly try to read it or it just doesn't do anything...

One way or another, it is a fualty DVD Burner. It can read CDs fine because it is another part of the laser/decoder. As for DVDs, it's the other part. That happens quite often, and it's far from being unsual.

Yes it does that exactly. DVDs are free from scratches.
