unremovable Icons

I've had this same exact problem before, and the only way it worked was by getting this program (the name which I can't recall) and using it to remove the icon.

There is no find target button.

it doesn't seem that the icon is a shortcut then. maybe you're going to have to uninstall the program to get rid of the icon. maybe someone else has some other suggestions for you to try.

did it show up on hijackthis?
even if it did not show, copy the logfile and go to "hijackthis.de".
on this site you can paste your log and see what is nasty on your computer.
you can then get out your pen and paper write them down and go back to your hijack this report and delete them by checking the box next to them.

It didn't work last time but I'l try this time. How do you go into safe mode on windows. It says press F8, but it doesn't do it for me, what do you press at startup for safe mode?

it is usualy f8.
just keep pressing it while booting up.
you don't need to be in safe mode to use hijackthis.

if f8 aint working, do this:
Close all open programs.
Click Start, Run and type MSCONFIG in the box and click OK
The System Configuration Utility appears, On the BOOT.INI tab, Check the "/SAFEBOOT" option, and then click OK and Restart your computer when prompted.
The computer restarts in Safe mode.
Perform the troubleshooting steps for which you are using Safe Mode.
When you are finished with troubleshooting in Safe mode, open MSCONFIG again, on the BOOT.INI tab, uncheck "/SAFEBOOT" and click OK to restart your computer

I got it in safe mode, no luck ,I'm about to try what Toby said.
