Default Unreal Tournament

Hi all,

I'm trying to get this game to run on my laptop. It's a really old game (wow, almost 9 years old), so I assume my hardware just doesn't like it, but I am wondering if anyone knows of any way I can get it to run.

Here are the specs of my laptop:

- Core Duo 2.0 GHz
- 1 GB RAM
- Intel Mobile 945GM

Anyone have any suggestions? When I open the game, I immediately get the "...has encountered a problem and needs to close" error message before the game even gets a chance to open.

I suggest maybe un-installing and re-installing the game.

Its a legitimate copy yeah?

Well, even though its an onboard video card, Unreal Tournament isn't exactly graphics intensive... hmm...

Are you running Vista or XP?

XP. And yes, this game runs well on a Voodoo 3 card, which is even older than the game is.

I honestly don't know what to suggest.

One thing I can think of, is to try and make it run in compatability mode.

Right click the shortcut, and go to Properties.
Go to the Compatability tab.

Select to run the program in compatability mode, and select Windows 98, and also try Windows 2000.

Select Apply after each, and try running it, to see if it makes a change.

EDIT:

Also, are your graphics drivers installed?
I also beleive this game needs at least Direct X 7, so make sure you install the latest Direct X updates too:

Thats definetly all I can suggest

I believe I tried that earlier to find it didn't work, but I'm not sure. I'm at work right now though so I'll try that in a little while.
