under-clocking a laptop

hi guys i was just was wondering if you could underclock a laptop

main reason is i just want to lower the temps on it because it reaches about 100 c then shuts down . i have improved it by adding new thremal paste,cleaning it out. new fan and a cooling pad but no good, so is it possible and will it help ?

Upgrade the bios as yours is probably corrupted, the bios controls the CPU fan speeds.
I bet your fan is only working on low speed & high speed is not cutting in when it should.

Do not bother trying to install 3rd party cpu fan control software as most do not work properly.

If you want to underclock you can easily do it by simply reducing the % CPU performance in the power management.
It will force the multiplier to no go above what ever the power management decide the % to be worth in multiplier.
