umm i have a problem with media aspect ratio

ok i acquired the death note movie and it should be in an aspect ratio of 16:9 and the size is 704 x 480 and when i play it with vlc it says its an aspect ratio of 16:9 but when i play it with windows media player it shows up as another aspect ratio what the heck it makes no sense

Mine is a bit like this, i just bought a widescreen monitor, VLC works great, Media Player puts movies at 4:3 even if they arent sometimes. Just avoid using MP for videos, VLC is far better anyway not like ur missing out.

There is an option to change aspect ratio under the tools menu, DVD, settings. You can force aspect ratios, but to me no point, VLC all the way

aspect ratios can seriously fuck off. this guy i know, he bought a widescreen LCD 52 inch and we were watching taladega nights, and the picture was still even thinner than the whole screen. and i mean MUCH thinner.

Lol nicely put. Wasnt too keen on widescreen when first got my tv years ago, used to it now and wudnt want a 4:3 screen.
