UH OH! what did i do! safe mode only

Ok my buddy called me and said he had a stick infineon 256mb pc2700 ram for me out of a dell deminsion 2400 pc so of course I was like hell yeah because I have 1 256mb stick of no name pc2100 and 1 stick of centon 512mb pc2700 and I know that because of the slower 256mb stick I have the rest of my memory will run at that speed also.

So with this infineon stick would have had 768mb of pc2700 instead of 768mb of pc2100 but when I installed it it wouldn’t boot up, I would go through the sequence all the way to where windows loads up but then go blank.

Now I can only go into safe mode, I don’t know what to do!

Please tell me I didn’t do something bad to my comp.

My comp specs are in my sig. Thanks for any help in advance.

i dont know but you have a sweet pc, why the sh!t memory?

spent all my dough on everything else and i had the mem from my last pc, i figured it would work until i could get some more.

Remove the memory, or do memtest or try it in another system!!

yeah, i suggest you try it on another system, because maybe the RAM he gave you is crap or isn't working and its messing up your computer

the comp i pulled it out of was working fine with just that stick in it. isnt there a bios flash or restart or something?

Just keep the memory out of the system!!
