Default uh oh?

since about 2 months ago my computers really been having some issues with overheating and i think it may now be on its last thread, its doing that thing that my previous laptop did where it would freeze up for the oddest things that wouldnt normally be a problem and now i can just leave the room and come back after an hour and just the screen saver made it overheat, is there anything i can do to possibly save my now out of warranty laptop that i still consider to be a great computer besides this problem, ive already tried cleaning it out of dust, dog hair, etc. and it seems to all be pretty dust-free but i just cant figure out what the problem is, or is it too late and might as well start looking for another one (although i wouldve liked to wait a while for some of the new things to hit the market)

any suggestions?
