Two Hard Drives (HELP)

Alright well I just installed a second harddrive (as a slave)

and It detects it in the bios and says its working in windows. But when i Go to my computer and check the hard drives section. It only says theres one hard drive.

I have checked the device manager incase there were any problems and there werent.

How can i use thise hard drive.

The two harddrives i have are

Western Digital 40 gig (Master, Primary)
Maxtor 40 gig (Slave, Primary)

How old is the HDD that you just installed? Sometimes older harddrives have compatibility issues when you mix different manufacters together (in your case WD and Maxtor).

Well I got it fixed..i booted up a windows xp cd and formatted and created a partition
