Ok, so his question is about NTFS...

He wants to know if NTFS will make the HDD bigger than FAT32...

Like when you convert FAT16 into FAT32, it increases the HDD a little bit, like that, only with NTFS... kinda thing.

And could you format NTFS BACK into FAT32 incase he doesn't like it/messes it up.

If you could help that would be much appreciated.

I'm not really sure what to tell him, so I thought I'd ask you guys, I mean, the site is called **COMPUTER** forums so I thought you guys might know about it.

Do you know any downsides to it?

Any help with the other stuff? (the formatting it back into FAT32 or whatever)

Do you think you might be able to type out (if you want) how to do it, so I know for future reference.

Ok, so he now has some other questions.

Do you know how long it would take to convert a 8GB HDD to NTFS?

And then how long it would take for a 40GB HDD.

A few minutes. I never timed it i have formatted 80 gigs i am guessing no longer than 30 min.

Dont know of any horrible downsides unless you also use a different OS. cuz it is incompatible with other os's and very hard to get them to read since Microsoft wont release the ntfs file format.

Thanks! That really helps!

Oh yeah, and I am moneyman's friend!

Thanks money man!

I am going to change it tomorrow in the morning...I hope it does not take long... :)

At least I can always format it back to FAT32 if there is the need to do so.

Is there anything else that I should know? Like should I defragment then convert?
