Default Trying to get video output to tv using vga converter (via video sender)

Instead of just writing a novel of a first post, I'll try to sum up the situation in as few words as possible lol.
  • I have video sender sending video+audio downstairs as settee downstairs is comfy to watch films on
  • Having no problem receiving audio, but video just ain't comin through (and I think films lose their edge when you can't actually see anything)
  • Got a vga to composite video/s-video converter off the bay today, but still no luck getting video through
  • Only just found a way to force tv detection through the annoying nVidia software, but still no luck

So have any of you guys got any ideas how I can get normal TV-friendly signal (as in ye olde CRT, none of this new hi-daf lark) downstairs? I'm willing to try things again if you thing it's worth doing.

VGA converter looks like this:
