Just go to pomona: computer show they have one every month. They are going to have on the first week of April and a larger on the last week of april. Youll find great deals. Cases for about $15-45 w/ PSU. 80 g HDD for $45 bucks. PC3200 rams 512mb from $45 to $59. DVD-ROMs for $20. Media cases of 50pcs for $5. the only bad part is that CPU and MOBO prices are to high. So if you get you cpu/mobo at Outpost and the rest of your stuff at that show the price is $400 or -

If you wanna go AMD get a 2600+ :

Then just have a look at Ebuyer's Socket A motherboards and pick your favourite. AMD is much cheaper than Athlon so you should save money.

GO AMD! my whole setup was around 700 bucks, but you could buy a 2500+ or something for cheap you could definatley be able to get him running.

i think 95 is a bit steep for a motherboard, try a xp2800 processor and look for a socket 759 under $70
