Is this true

You would need to use Killdisk to get rid of everything, when you format the HDD, the files are not deleted, windows just marks the hard drive down empty, until the files are overwritten.

I hate telling people how to wipe their hard drives, nothing personal cmartin, but there are alot of nasty people out there, alot of nasty people who want to get rid of nasty information, pictures, you know where im coming from..?

Nothing person though cmartin..Welcome to CF by the way..

aight its fine, just lemme get it straight there are files of every site on there but they are extremely difficult to retreive

No, its not..
It can be retrieved by anyone with computer knowledge..
And if you don't delete the history, thats easy to retrieve to..

When you delete something, its not permenantly deleted either..
And it ussually takes about 7 formats to completely destroy anything on the drive.. (From what I've heard).

Even in the case of a dead hard drive, information can be restored by a very expensive process (about 5000).
