troubleshooting for a non-techie.....

i'm new on this forum and all i do is surf the net and use ms office, so pardon my ignorance... i'm having a problem with my computer (currently using wife's laptop). it won't power on. when i push the power button, the light flashed on for an instant and right back off, and then wouldn't power up after that. 8 hours later, i tried the power button (just for kicks), and it flashed on again for about 2 seconds, and then right back off.

so is this a power supply problem?
is that an easy fix?
what retail or online store do you recommend to buy a replacement part?

Try plugging into a different outlet before you start changing parts. It does sound like a power supply issue though, but check with a different outlet just to be sure.
