So you want to transfer the information from your old hard drive to your external drive?

Just install the old hard drive into the new computer, it will be compatable. There are only 2 types of hard drives that it could be, IDE or SATA and chances are that your new computer has an ide channel.

So just install the hard drive into the computer, copy the files to the computer's hard drive, and then to the external drive.

It should be written on the drive, the brand and model...etc. Or if it's still in the pc you can go to the device manager and find out what kind it is.
