My warranty ended the day before yesterday. How much do you think it would cost to get a replacement touchpad? Woud it even be worth getting a replacement one, or would I be better off buying a new laptop when the touchpad gets unbearable?

Isn't there an option to turn the touchpad off and attach an external mouse? I've been using an external mouse on my presario 2500 for a while now with no issues. I just attached it and the touchpad turned itself off.

I know this doesn't solve your touchpad problem, but it's a lot cheaper than buying a new laptop!

True, I could do that, and I probably will. The only problem is that some of the places I take my laptop aren't flat enough or have enough room to use a separate mouse. So if I'm sitting on my couch or outside or whatever, I'll till need to use the touchpad.

I wonder if theres an attachment that fits onto generic laptop cases, that allows you to have maybe a bit of worksurface directly attached to the laptop for use with mice, etc.

Might be worth checking out.
