Ccleaner is a good one.

Memtest86+ is a good diagnostic for your memory.

You can download a utility from the hard drive manufacturer's site that will fully analyze your drive.

A defragger may fix a slow PC.

A great one, being Auslogics Disk Defrag which is free.

Another nice but free tool, but doesn't seem to be updated anymore, is Easy Cleaner, made by someone called ToniArts.

I don't trust CCleaner to be honest.

I just downloaded this today, its a free linux based partition manager that can be booted before the OS. I'm in love with it. Saved my windows partitions... Easy to use too if you know how partitions work that is.

Having a nice Linux Live CD around doesn't hurt either for recovering files from a damaged windows system.
