Default Thinking about it........

I saw this stuff on Newegg and I'm thinking about upgrading, let me know what you guys think about this stuff:

Processor:
AMD 64 X2 6000:
http://www.newegg.com/product/Produc...82E16819103773

Motherboard:
Asus M2N-Sli Deluxe:
http://www.newegg.com/product/Produc...82E16813131013

Hard Drive
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320gb sata 3.0gb/s:
http://www.newegg.com/product/Produc...82E16822148140

Memory
Mushkin extreme performance ddr2 800 2gb dual channel:
http://www.newegg.com/product/Produc...82E16820146108

Video card
XFX GeForce 7600GT 256mb:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150185

I know the video card is old and that isn't an issue with me. I'm not a pc gamer and that video card will play any of the games I might want to play.

So what do you think?

Because I like AMD, and the X2 6000 equals the E6600 and even beats it at some stuff.

intel quad cores have been out for a while. and having 2 chips is probably better because the cpus will have less heat if you have 2 coolers on 2 seperate cpus.

if you dont plan on overclocking then the amd 6000+ is good but might be overkill unless you plan to play a lot of modern games which you dont. id look into the 4800+ class unless you have a lot of money to spare

I feel both are good CPUs. That Athlon X2 6000's aging architecture slightly turns me off. I like the cooler running E6600 better and it does have excellent overclocking potential. I'm not big on OCing, but I hear it can go up to 3.5Ghz easily!!!!

Yeah, it can. Mine's at 3.4 I think, been under full load for a few days now and is steady at 50*C with a Tuniq Tower.

I don't plan to do any overclocking nor play any hardcore games really. But I know I could if I wanted to.

Any compatibility problems anyone can think of between those items?

no i all looks good , if you arent planning no overclcokign why not get a lower amd dual core likethe 4800 or somethin would save you some money and it would still be good enough

anyways a nice system and a good upgrade from an xp2600 thats for sure

My 4200+ has done nothing but impressed me, I would get that and maybe invest in a raptor, of if you are eventually going to do some hardcore gaming, a better video card.

Looks like the X2 6000 is out of stock on Newegg so I've updated the setup a bit, have a look at it and see what you think:

Processor
Intel Core 2 duo E6600:
http://www.newegg.com/product/Produc...82E16819115003

Motherboard
Asus P5B-E LGA 775
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131070

Ram
Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 dual channel 2x1gb sticks
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145590

Video Card
XFX GeForce 7600GT 256 mb
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150185

Hard drive
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500gb
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148136

Let me know what you think, any compatibility problems with this stuff? Which setup do you like better, the first one or the second one? I could always get the X2 6000 processor from someplace else for the first setup, if it isn't sold out everywhere.
