i think the thin line like on arctic silvers website is better
but my friend says spreading it out is better

i think as long as it isnt too thick and it covers the entire top of the cpu it will be effective.

it seems that there are many factors, exposed or with a heat spreader, AMD or Intel, single core or multiple cores, etc...

I would just go to the AS site and choose my processor and do what the PDF file says, the engineers at AS know a lot more about their product than the rest of us...

if you look at the site, spreading it out is mostly for older processors with exposed cores, the newer ones with heat spreaders mostly go with the line or dot...
