Default THats odd

OK, every now and then my computer randomly shuts down. sometimes when im playing games and sometimes when im doing nothing...when it comes back on it says your system has recovered from a seriouse system error...is it shutting down because i might need a new psu?

Did you check your temps, your psu might be overheating might be as simple as putting in another fan or maybe a better fan or heatsink to dissapate the heat.

those arent that hot...(idle) yes the cpu is a lil high but not hot enough to shut down....

after the virus scan sorry for all the bak to bak posts...ok after the scan i restarted...my comp is so slow...the cpu usage keeps jumpin form like 8 to 66 then 100 and then to 2..ect

by ur sig it looks like you have a AMD 64, in which case that is pretty high considering after 62 or so they start frying. if its a XP which i doubt it is then thats normal temps

Do this:

Control Panel -> System -> Advanced -> Settings (in the Startup and Recovery bit), and uncheck Automatically Restart.

That way, you'll get a BSOD instead of the machine just powering off and dying on you. At least you should do. If you get a BSOD, it'll maybe point you in the right direction.
