Default Which TFT monitor?

Hi, I'm going to get a new monitor for someone, but im wondering if it would be better to get a 19" or a 17" monitor. I dont wont widescreen. The graphics card the pc has http://www.msicomputer.co.uk/Product...3686&cat_id=78 but im not sure what resolution it goes upto (on his pc I can drag the slider upto 1280x1024, but is that because the current monitor can only go up that far). Would this monitor be better for gaming http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/126819/rb/27331136660 than this one http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/119009/rb/27331156959. The 17" and 19" monitors only seem to go upto 1280x1024, so does that mean a 17" monitor would be better than a 19" monitor? You would still be able to fit the same amount of windows/stuff on a page, however it would be more spread out on a 19"?

dont worry. 1280x1024 is enough for most people. and make sure to get a monitor with at least 8ms response time!! :P

Get the 19" one, it's much better than the 17".

why though? How do you make that assumption.

The 8ms, does that mean it updates the whole screen every 8ms?

no, it means it takes 8ms to process the image (from the time it comes in through the input to the time it gets displayed)

Yeah, that'll make video look smoother basically. I can tell a difference between two of my monitors, one with a 16ms response time and one with a 5ms response time.

Also, you get the added 2" of viewing space...
