What is the advantage of a TB drive?
I'm not a gamer...

A TB is just 1,000 GB, just like a GB is 1,000 MB, and so on.

Well, I was just being general. In every other unit it's by 1000's, including in bytes, but the NTFS system formats it by 1024, but a TB drive has 1000 gb, that's why when you format it with NTFS it's smaller.

I think....

The conversion is 1024 MB etc. and thats what the computer goes by (2^10)

But....

HDD companies base off of 1000 bytes

not always true, it depends on which model you buy, 1TB drives have caches that range from 8MB to 64MB...
