Default A Tale of Two Dells

Hey guys. I'm torn between 2 Dell laptops and I need guidance. I just want good performance. It will mostly be for writing, checking email, surfing the usual website and playing a game now and then. But I also want it to be technologically sound enough to last me a few years. Below are the spec's for what I narrowed it down to. Will the RPM's of the Hard Drive make that big a difference in speed? Am I better off with the AMD Turion or Intel Core 2 Duo? Do I really need a 256mb video card or will 128mb suffice? I'm just looking for places where I can trim the price of each of these systems.
Any other help/input would be greatly appreciated.

What games are you planning on playing?

Regardless, the Core 2 Duo is much better than the AMD

The price difference between the 2 is definitely worth the difference in performance you'll experience.

Thanks for the responses, guys.

Mobility if a necessity for the moment, so it will have to be a laptop. And it looks like it'll be the second one. Thanks again!
