System Hang on StartUp

Hi All. Just recently my computer has started to take about 5 to 6 minutes to load on startup. It hangs when it gets to the "Loading Your Personal Settings..." screen and doesn't budge for 5 minutes at the least. As I said, this is just recently that it started. It has nothing to do with which programs load at startup because even when they are all disabled (with msconfig) and even when i run windows in Safe Mode, it takes just as long to get past the screen. I have tried error checking the hard drive and also defragmenting...Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.
