Default A switch that you hook your mouse/keyboard to, to be able to switch back and forth...

Hey, I am looking for a switch to be able to have my keyboard and mouse hooked up to it. And then I will have that switched hooked up to my computer and my laptop. Since my laptop will not always be stuck at my desk, its going to be a pain hooking and unhooking a keyboard/mouse to do work on it. So I am looking for a something that I can easily switch access to depending on what I am doing.

Attached is a QUICK paint image to kind of get the point across

KVM Switch. You'll probably need USB so that it hooks up to the laptop. You'll end up still needing to hook up cables to the laptop everytime.

Thanks for the reply, I was doing some research on them. And it looks like it only works for windows? The laptop is going to be a macbook pro for my designing, and the desktop is for general/gaming use. And I have a 27" monitor that I want to be able to use for both. I don't have to use them both and one time, I just want to be able to switch between the two easily.

Thanks

They might be only for Windows, that's all I use so I don't know.

Here's one:
Belkin Switch (under Tech Specs, some of the models support MAC OSX v10)

Maybe software based?
Synergy
