switch my cpu

i'm wanting to go from my amd 8120fx 8 core cpu to an intel i7 i'm not sure as to exactly what i need to change so everything works together motherboard specs are

You need to get a new motherboard that will support that CPU you have chosen.

You will need to make sure that your parts will be compatible with the new motherboard that you choose.

all your other components should work with an up to date intel motherboard.
so you only need to worry about getting a now motherboard if you want to change the CPU to an I7

well... maybe if you have a third party CPU cooler, but then again it should come with some mounting brackets that supports LGA 1156, 1155 and LGA 1150. (LGA 1150 is backwards compatible with LGA 1155 coolers)
