Default Suggestions for a New Rig

Hello everyone! THis is my first post here!

Well, I want to build a new pc this summer and cant
decide on specs. What do you suggest?

I got a budget of $1100 for the box and I am going to
be buying the case soon, the Thermaltake Armor (Black).
It's huge and nice looking so I won't have to worry
about not having room for a sweet pc.

My main use will be multimedia stuff such as editing digital photos, video, and
gaming.

Also, I do need a copy of windows. So I'l probabley get XP Home
from Newegg for about $89.95.

Thanks for your help and suggestions.

Yeah, please be a little more specific - and we will be able to help you easier.

We're not being nasty, because I enjoy pricing up systems from newegg, but it would be alot easier for all of us if we know exactly what you want, need, what kind of parts you want..etc

ok.

I am an AMD Fan and NVIDIA Fan. I don't think my budget will allow
for SLI unless I get 6600Gts. I was thinkin something
more powerful for gaming. I would like to run SLI later in
the future too.

I don't think I'll need Raid either.

I was thinking dual core, but what do you think?

Well I guess I'll lead off then.
I would suggest using several smaller drives instead of one big one. I use the Samsung spinpoint 80's in my system. Smaller drives do several things for you. One is making those back ups smaller. Two would be crashes are less costly data and money wise.
Now another thing would be to get a good brand dvd/cd burner combo. Again the samsung 16x is a terrific unit.
Now let's talk money. Both are OEM. Meaning no fancy box. Just the goodies.
Samsung spin point 80 80gig 7200rpm 3 year warranty $59.00usd
Samsung 16x dvd/cd burner combo dual layer $59.00usd

EDIT> I take too long to post when I'm at work. lol
