Default Suggestions For My First Build?

Here it is. Please give me any tips/suggestions that you have. Budget is $1100. This is meant to be a decent gaming computer, thanks.

you need a video card if you plan on using it as a gaming computer. I would get the 8600. and a SATA dvd drive is overkill- a IDE one will work just as fast.

well yeah, the dvd drive doesn't really get any performance boost from the sata connection. But the price is about the same, so you could just go with sata since it's newer technology. Cables are better etc. The difference is small, but so is the price.

You would recommend the 8600 over what I already have? http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16814102061

The X1950 is an awesome card, but it doesn't support DirectX 10. If you don't care about that, then that's a sweet deal.

If you can, upgrade to this processor. It's a good deal better:

Other than that, looks pretty good.

You could get two more gigs of RAM, or you could get a sweet keyboard and mouse.

spend at least a part of that money on cooling. A good heatsink (maybe scythe infinity?) and a tube of arctic silver 5 (need to put this between the cpu and heatsink) would sound good. The total cost for those 2 should be around $60.

You might also want to get some better fans, though the ones that come with the case will be fine too.
