I have been wanting to build a computer on my own but I don't know where to start. I have never built one before and am a little nervous. The only reason I am going to build it myself is that I can get a lot better computer cheaper than buying a prebuilt machine. I have been told it is a lot easier than I think to build one. Do you really have to know what you are doing?
The computer I am going to build(hopefully) is going to be used for games like GRAW, GRAW2, Doom 3, Far Cry, BF2142 and some of the newer games like Crysis, COD4 Modern Warfare and maybe Bioshock. I will also use it for other stuff like internet, email, music, and photos.
I have been researching on other forums and this is what I have came up with:

As for the hard drive and dvd drive, the computer has 2 of each so I will just take one of them out. And the operating system I am just going to use XP for now and save up so I can upgrade to Vista and a DX10 card like the 8800GTS, maybe 2 of them. What do you all think of that setup? I am open to suggestions. I read the reviews for that CPU and they say it runs hot. Should I be worried about that? I don't plan on overclocking any. Also they say the case is fairly loud.
