Suddenly monitor goes blank

Why format a hard disk every time something goes wrong! I can't believe people will solve all their computer problems by formatting the hard disk.
You have a video display problem; you start your computer, it runs for a while and then blank. You have the VPU on, but have you checked your video setting for your AGP aperture. If your video card has 128 Meg or RAM and your aperture is only set at 32 Meg, it won't be long, you will have saturation, the aperture size has to match your video card memory size.
Check that out, and also make sure your cables are well spread, not twisted.....but if that doesn't solve the problem don't format for nothing, check your monitor on another PC; the problem may be the monitor!
