If JBL publishes the specs of the woofer, look em up and find an identical woofer

Whats wrong with using an MTX sub though?

The MTX sub is not paired for that specific box. Allot of audio engineering goes into getting the acoustics right in the sub box. Think of it like your bose speakers... one reason they sound so good and can be so small is because of their acoustic properties.
Putting the MTX sub into ur box would limit the quality of sound produced.
its best to get the same sub that was previously in the box

Or going to the place where you got it from and ordering a refund.

I'm sure it cost a lot of money, and you don't want to just chuck it, to get another one because of a faulty (if it is faulty) item.

There should be rules against that.

If i have all the right specs, I can calculate the ideal speaker box

OK, but I bought it off the display shelf, so there's no refund policy. So I guess I am stuck, opening up the box to find out what sub this is for a replacement?

So there's absloutely no other sub I can use, what about if it's a sub of the same depth et cetera?
