Strange echo, and sound distortion.

Well, the title pretty much explains it all.

I broke my old headset earlier today, a logitech one, and I went to buy a full aural set. I picked one out, an Altec Lansing ahs515, bought it, and plugged it only to find that it gives this weird echo for every sound that is played. It also sounds kind of distant. Sound also gets distorted when I play anythig with some bass, or fats paced music.

I spent ~40 dollars, and this sucks. What the hell is going on to make the headset echo and stuff?
