Default stop 0x000000f4 Blue Screen Error

Hi

My PC keeps freezing and sometimes is crashing with the error stop 0x000000f4. My PC is 3 years old and I think its on its last legs? I have googled the error stop 0x000000f4 and everywhere says its a hardware issue??

How can I find out what hardware part is causing the issue? Is there anything software based I can try to fix this issue??

Thanks

Blue screens are almost always hardware issue. Most of the time it's the memory. Download and run memtest86 and see.

this may be a silly question but have you done any overclocking? I would get a bsod whenever my cpu was unstable. i would have to agree with Ohsnapword

If your computer is running Windows XP with Service Pack 3, there is a hotfix for this particular BSOD code that may apply to your problem. Check it out here:
Windows XP stops responding when you click or resize a window, or in Windows Server 2003, when you run many console applications, you receive a Stop error message: "0x000000F4"
