I recently installed an asus k8v-x motherboard because my last motherboard went. When i start up my computer it will reach the start-up screen where it says press del for setup or tab to continue but when i press either of these keys nothing happens.

double check to see if your keyboard is plugged in the right PS/2 connection. When the PC first startup, do you see the lights on the keyboard come on?

Hmmm.... does it react in ANY WAY when you press a button? If not, try another keyboard just to make sure that one isn't broken. If something - anything - does happen, there's something else wrong. Either way, it's probably a hardware issue involving the motherboard. It could be faulty, or there might be a conflict somewhere.

Start pressing Del as soon as the PC boots and keep tapping at it to see what happens. I'll bet you tried that too. Sounds like the PS/2 controllers on the motherboard could be screwed.

Try plugging the PS/2 to USB adapter on there and plug it in to the USB port.
