The reason why I call it the engine is because everything interacts with it (CPU, memory, graphic card, chipsets, sound card, USB, SATA interface, etc, etc.). Before, I thought the CPU was like the heart too because it did most of the number crunching to process information. But regardless, the motherboard, CPU, and memory are the core components. Those together can determine a great PC along with efficient use of the hard drive.
