Is it ok to keep on putting my computer on stand-by...like this...

i read a book, while its on standby for 10-20minutes, then i move the mouse and it turns on and i use it for 10 minutes, and then put it on standby again. Will it hurt my computer if i do this a lot, i do it about 4 times a day???

Personally, I never use the hibernation or standby for the PC. My PC power management is set to "never off". It keeps going and going and going.......until I turn it off. My monitor on the other hand goes into standby mode after 30 minutes of idle.

Keeping the comp on almost 24/7 is bad for the fans though... I busted 2 fans already from keeping it running most of the time.

how are your settings jeff? i keep mine on 24-7 except for the monitor too.

I turn my PC off on a daily basis though so that shouldn't be too bad. Unless of course if I'm downloading some huge files that unfortunately is on a slower connected computer, then will I leave it on overnight and into all of the next day.
