Hi
Will a ssd drive make my computer respond faster, and can I get an ide fitting
Thanks

I have a hp pavillion zd8007ea

An SSD will make your computer MUCH faster. It will be incredibly responsive and you will never want to use anything with a hard drive again (I get pissed off with my ps4 and xbox one because they don't have an SSD lol). That being said you cannot run an SSD off an IDE cable. They don't even make IDE capable drives anymore. It's all sata. Frankly I would get a new laptop. The one you have is ancient.

Good god, does that thing still work :)

Pentium 4 530 CPU, 60gig IDE harddrive and 512mb RAM. ahh yes, that takes me back.

I had similar specs up till 2007 where i upgraded the RAM, GPU and harddrive.
Then threw out the PC in 2009... that's about 6½ years ago.
So i'll recommend you do the same as soon as possible.

Doesn't the slow speed of a PATA controller nullify any performance gains from an SSD?

It will limit it a lot more than a 6bgs data.
If you are going to buy one anyways, get a data drive and an adapter so it will be compatable with a newer laptop when you update.
